Mission Statement:
The Discovery Center...
is a creation museum/emporium that exists primarily to provide scientific and historic evidence for the truthfulness of God’s word, especially as it relates to the creation/evolution issue. . Our secondary mission is to expose the myth of evolution as anti-science and atheistic in nature. We accomplish our mission by conducting tours, providing resources, teaching seminars and classes and by sponsoring special events as well as producing a daily radio program, A Discovery Minute.
Located in Abilene, TX, The Discovery Center is the physical headquarters of Overflow Ministries, established in 1980 by Tommy and Carolyn Walden for the purpose of teaching the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Tommy Walden received a BA degree in religious education at Trinity College of Florida and a BRE degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. He was ordained to the Gospel ministry in 1963 at the First Baptist Church of Dallas, TX by Dr. W. A. Criswell. In 1964 he received an MRE degree from Trinity College of Florida.
The Waldens were married in 1964 and have been serving the Lord together in churches, camps, schools and conference centers and on radio for over four decades. They have two grown sons and three grandchildren and a menagerie of animals at The Discovery Center.
